The upper part of the shaft cuts into the foundation for the wall between shop and rear room XXXIII, and a wall of rough masonry lines the mouth of the well. It is clearfrom their construction and from their relation to the Stoa foundations, on the one hand, and to the reservoir on the other, that all three wells just described, as well as the wall across the reservoir and the rectangularchamber,are later than the Stoa.
