After a moment, a wry smile curved in the corner of Captain Huntley舗s mouth, and he set his teacup down on the table with a sharp clack. He unfolded himself from the chair with surprising grace, then picked up his pack and shouldered it.

That bound him to his service. It didn舗t matter that, in a matter of minutes, Morris would be dead. It was an unbreakable rule, one that was never questioned, never doubted. Honor was held at a premium when the rest of the world went to hell. 舠Have you a letter? 舡 There were a few books in his pack, but of any of these he would gladly sacrifice a few pages to transcribe Morris舗s message.
