Collected works, with commentary

This quantity includes the accrued works of the eminent chemist and physicist Lars Onsager, probably the most influential scientists of the twentieth Century. the quantity comprises Onsager's formerly unpublished PhD thesis, a biography via H C Longuet-Higgins and M E Fisher, an autobiographical remark, chosen photos, and a listing of Onsager dialogue comments in print.

Portable X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry Capabilities for In Situ Analysis

Moveable X-ray fluorescence (PXRF) instrumentation has a few specific analytical features for the in situ research of samples within the box. those services were prolonged lately by way of the continued improvement of sturdy kingdom detectors, floor fastened electronics, electronic sign processing know-how, Li-ion batteries mixed with a call of rugged sealed radioisotope assets or miniature X-ray tubes that supply light-weight hand held units.

Modern Developments in Energy, Combustion and Spectroscopy. In Honor of S. S. Penner

This compendium of technical articles is devoted to Professor Stanford Solomon Penner at the celebration of his seventieth birthday. As probably the most renowned scientists of our instances, he has been rather instrumental in advancing the sector of combustion technology whereas at the same time he has constructed quantitative spectroscopy into an incredible engineering self-discipline, and can also be a number one overseas professional on power matters.

Calculated on this basis value δ of coal increases droningly with increasing the content of carbon from 70 % till 87 % and in a case of more metamorphized coal is sharply decreased again. Data concerning to the extraction of Greta coal are evidence of maximal yield of extract (more than 20 %) under it treatment with ethylendiamine and dimethylformamide (δ – 11,5), however, authors admit a fact that this is a consequence of specific interactions, since in alcohol from the δ of the same order the yield of the extract is only 1 – 2 %.

The data concerning to W taken from [9] and calculated on their basis swelling values in moles Q and lgQ are presented in Table 2; the generalization of these data in accordance with the sixth parameter equation (7) leads to higher degree of relationship R = 0,909, and the exclusion from the consideration of one solvent (butylamine) gives the possibility to obtain the equation with satisfactory degree of relationship R = 0,974; an additional exclusion of dimethylformamide gives the equation (11) with R = 0,991.
