The German »Macer«, translated into Thuringian dialect within the first 1/2 the 13th century, is the earliest broad natural in German. It treats ninety seven herbs in an equivalent variety of chapters. This important paintings of German scientific literature is significantly edited right here for the 1st time. The creation offers a brief background of the natural style, surveys the complex heritage of the textual content and its transmission, and analyzes the texts that accompany it in manuscripts, thereby offering a short literary heritage of early German scientific literature. Latin resource texts are published in an appendix.
