Their critique of standard theory also suffers from a lack of empirical grounding and lacks credibility, therefore, in the eyes of strategic pay advocates. Their concerns have also found little traction with practitioners. The review of the literature highlights an opportunity for an important contribution to the subject, by redressing the gap in knowledge left void by both standard and critical commentary.
