Falls die Samen nicht durch Insekten verschleppt werden, vertrocknen die Früchte später in der Scheitelwolle und die Samen erlangen, erst nachdem die Frucht aus dem Bereich der Scheitelwolle herausgekommen ist, nach außen. Die Fruchtwand wird bis dahin spröde. Die Früchte haben nur ca 50 Korn, wesentlich weniger als bei allen verwandten Untergattungen. Samen : Samen am ähnlichsten dem Samen der Untergattung Neonotocactus, aber im Gegensatz zu dieser sowie anderen verwandten Untergattungen vollständig von einer braunen (bei manchen Arten fast schwarzen) Arillushaut überzogen.
